📍General Admits 1 Million Dead
Ethiopian General Bacha Debele has publicly acknowledged that the 2020–2022 Tigray war may have killed up to one million people. Speaking to NBC Ethiopia, he said the loss of one million lives could have been avoided if the fighting had not occurred and he urged former Tigray leaders who are now aligned with the Ethiopian government to repent and ask for forgiveness for the 2020 attacks on the Northern Command.
📍Large-scale detentions of Eritrean refugees are underway across Ethiopia. Reports say 125 were arrested in the Zewditu camp area, while more than 300 others were rounded up in Addis Ababa and taken to Kilinto Prison.
📍Former US IT contractor Abraham Lemma has pleaded guilty to spying for Ethiopia. Prosecutors say he used administrator access to steal Top Secret files, take handwritten notes, and remove classified defence information from secure facilities and he passed it to Ethiopian officials to help target Tigray fighters. He faces 10 to 22 years in prison under a plea deal.
📍TPLF officials and activists claim the Ethiopian government has begun leasing agricultural land in Western Tigray to UAE investors following Prosperity Party meetings. The transfers are allegedly taking place under direct federal oversight.
